Guess what I've spent all day doing?

Yes, playing with my new doll. I ... don't think the Stroppy One quite realized the level of crazy finally getting a gothy-goth doll of my own would unleash. You would think he would have realized this, considering [info]clovisdvlbunny's presence in our lives, but no. He didn't.

(To be honest, [info]clovisdvlbunny is not one for accumulating clothes. He likes getting new bow-ties occasionally, but would much rather have minions and a zombie army. Which means that the full strength of my "Oooooh, doll! Doll clothes and accessories!" madness might not have been easy to gauge.)

Come, join me in this mild insanity. Really, it's fun! )

I am giddy with delight over having Lucretia in my life. [info]clovisdvlbunny is thrilled that there is a gothygirl that he is bigger than, and thus thinks that he'll be able to boss her around. That's going to be interesting to watch.

Now, back to finding more accessories for her. A real quote from our house today: "Ooooh! My mini glow-in-the-dark crow skull is the right size for her hands!"

OH MY GOD, YOU PEOPLE GAVE ME MY DOLL!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have longed for an Evangeline Ghastly doll for years. I am amazed at the list of people who helped the Stroppy One get me her (and her assorted outfits!). Thank you so much!

I gave the Stroppy One one of his Christmas presents. [info]clovisdvlbunny would like to claim it for his own, saying "best minion ever!"

Happy holidays, everyone!

I sang solo and survived!

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 11:11 PM
For a full church of probably about 300 people but not the poor sods in the hall due to utter microphone FAIL.

Some people even came up and said they thought it was nice, after. Which was very polite of them, cos frankly I've done it better, but hell. I didn't completely flunk it and the whole thing was recognisable.

Vexingly, I sang it better both a) earlier today, practicing and b) afterwards, waiting for my mulled wine to heat up. Ah well.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

House tidy, Christmas tree up, festive photo of cat playing with tinsel taken, instant lasagne in the oven (Mum insisted on a ready meal rather than me cooking something fancy on Christmas eve and then starting again tomorrow with washing up and general devastation.)

OK, bring it on!

OMFG! SQUEEEEE!!!!!

Devilbunny with new minions!

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 7:37 PM

One of my Secret Santa people very kindly included a present for [info]clovisdvlbunny; a flock of batty minions.

That is what a very smug Devilbunny looks like.

What should I read next?

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 7:20 PM
Ok so I am almost finished with Emily the Strange: The Lost Days
(which I'm totally not all that thrilled with) Feh.

And now I'm trying to decided what to read after. So I created a poll, or at least I'm hoping I did it right! Argh.... I'm not including any manga books, since those books only take me an hour each to read but I do have a few that aren't manga that I haven't even had the chance to dust off since I got them.

Poll #1502839 What Should I Read Next?

What Should I Read Next?

***On a side note, if anyone has any reading suggestions, please comment and I'll check it out. ;0)

I have a WICKED craving to read Gone with The Wind (<----Addiction) but (1.) I don't own it and (2.) I 110% want the leather back with gold leaf one so it goes with my other leather back books. I think after the holidays I'm going to go on a search for it. I know that there is a 2 volume version that came out *I think* in the 80's but that's not the one I'm thinking of.

Don't ask me why, but I've always been attracted to hard cover leather back books like these and as you can see I also like the classics as well. When I was a little girl, I would tell my grandmother that when I grew up, I would have a my own library just filled with leather back books, kinda like the ones you see in the movies! HEHEHE!! ;0P

Year in review

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 3:41 PM
I'm not actually going to fill out one of the assorted "year in review" meme-thingies that are floating around. Reading them and thinking about what my answers would be makes me twitch. So instead, I'll say this:

2009 had some astonishingly bad points. Really, really bad, and I'm working on not dwelling on them and moving forward. Learning from bad things and putting that hard-won knowledge to good use, yes, that is the plan.

HOWEVER, 2009 had some amazing, fantastic high points. Book! Travel! Seeing friends! Meeting new people! Concerts! Better communication with my loved ones!

So. Dear 2010, take your cues from the good parts of 2009, okay? No more of the bad stuff that went on.

Thank you in advance,

Cupcake Goth

No clever title

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 11:38 AM

The Stroppy One does not like my whimsically mis-matched stockings, even tho' it is something I have done off and on for YEARS.

---

I kinda don't want to be at work today. I need to wrap presents. Not to mention that I've come up with a few crafty-type projects that I want to get started on. But I will be a good worker bee, and concentrate on the editing for my day job.

Skeleton boots = not a caroler, right?

  • Dec. 22nd, 2009 at 11:20 AM
Tonight is the night of a family tradition: Dad and I go Christmas shopping. We have done this for ... well, since I was very small. We will go have dinner, try and figure out what the heck to get [info]cupcakegothmom as presents, and generally hang out and have a good time. Yes, I deliberately wore my skelly Docs to try and ward off the inevitable "Are you a Christmas caroler?" questions that my top hat seems to inspire. Yeah yeah, I know, I'm still going to be asked that.

Note To Self: you need to track down more silver kilt pins, because they work very well as a vaguely punk-ish way to turn pendants into brooches.

I hope everyone had a good Solstice. I am looking forward to more light. Not because I like sunlight all that much, mind you, but because things have been dark for a lot of people lately.

I need to take another bash at writing the post that will be the intro to the more informal reviews section on GCS. I would say maybe tomorrow night, but ahahahahaah. I need to wrap presents. I also need to email the delightful organizers of the Mourning Market and talk to them about a possible GCS reading at the next one.

Okay, time for coffee (thank you, oh darling Stroppy One! The scone was very tasty, too.), and back to editing. For there being hardly anyone in the office, I have a surprising amount of work.
